Hello, I’m Jeanette Davis, Certified Holistic Nutritional Consultant (C.H.N.C.) and founder of A Dish Of Wellness. I am also a wife and mother of two young adults, a fitness enthusiast, animal lover, avid traveller, and a life-long learner.

Why I Became a Holistic Nutritional Consultant?
Eating healthy has always been important to me, but I haven’t always been well informed on what eating healthy actually meant. Like many women, I determined healthy and successful as being ‘skinny’, and eating low fat foods and diet snacks. I have watched friends try extreme deprivation diets and have tried many fad diets myself. However, as many of us know by now, these ‘diets’ are not sustainable and the extreme deprivation leaves everyone hungry, unhappy and with temporary weight loss. Not to mention, health is not even a factor in many of these programs.

Fed up with the demoralizing diet culture, wanting to focus on health and wellness versus weight, and the desire to provide sound nutritional guidance to my family, I started seeking eduction on the topic. I discovered Canada’s School of Natural Nutrition and obtained my diploma with honours.

My interest in women’s health emerged from the desire to learn what women’s bodies required nutritionally going through the different stages of life. How can we keep that glow in our skin, our hormones in check, our energy levels peaked, and our immunity strong? I have since taken advanced training in emotional eating, intermittent fasting, Precision Sports nutrition, Holistic Culinary Nutrition, Metabolic Balance®, and most recently the brain gut connection.

Since taking this journey of health and wellness, I look at food as a way to nourish my mind and body and consider my ‘diet’ to be successful if I am strong, healthy, happy and energized. By eating differently, I have noticed increased energy, decreased crashes, glowing skin, improved immunity, and mental clarity.

Although, I try to eat nutritiously the majority of the time, I do believe in balance and that life should include indulgences and treats. I consider myself on a journey and a work in progress. I understand that a life event or even a vacation can set us backwards, and that we may need to reset, and that’s okay as long as we remember to check in. I love sharing my knowledge, tools and resources with other women where ever they are on their nutritional journey.

My Background
I previously owned a fitness and wellness studio where I coached many clients one-on-one and lead group nutritional workshops. I continue to educate myself with training courses, webinars, books and reports so that I have up-to-date information for myself and my clients.

I hold two previous degrees, a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Communications majoring in Technical Writing, which provide me with the tools to research and write nutritional and wellness articles.
